SEARCH PROCESS

   
Week 1
 

Initial meeting with the client to define the high level position requirements and the ideal candidate profile

Obtain client approval of the position and candidate spec, including a company backgrounder plus links to the client’s web site

Review sample resumes of recently hired candidates with client and agree source company target list including competitors

Establish broad compensation guidelines and cross check with independent salary data surveys

Agree with client to send weekly status report and schedule phone review if required

 
Weeks 2 and 3
  Identify and prioritize multiple sources of potential candidates

Initial phone call and/or email to prospective candidates typically not naming the client or the position

Once prospective candidate responds, walk through the company profile and the position, then email the job spec and confirm a time to re-connect once the candidate has had time to get up to speed

Candidate sends in confidential resume and confirms level of interest

Via a 60 to 90 minute phone call, walk through the candidate’s resume

Make “pass” or “proceed” decision on each candidate

Send client weekly report on search status

 
Week 4
 

Identify between 8 to 12 “good fit” candidates

Schedule face to face recruiter interviews with all “good fit” candidates

Eliminate 4 to 6 “less than great fit” candidates

Review top 5 to 7 “best fit” candidate resumes with client

Agree with client on which candidates will be interviewed and schedule

Client may wish to conduct initial phone interview with candidates or go straight to face to face interviews

Send client weekly report on search status

 
Weeks 5 and 6
 

Assist client schedule meetings with selected candidates

Conduct low profile background checks

Get feedback from client on candidates following initial interview

Get feedback for candidate on the client and the opportunity

Keep in touch with all candidates on a weekly basis to maintain interest  

Send client weekly report on search status

 
Weeks 7 and 8
 

Client identifies final short list of 3 to 5 candidates

Schedule interviews and follow up with client and candidates

Conduct reference checks as required by client

Confirm candidate’s enthusiasm to accept a potential offer and review possible response from current employer

Send client weekly report on search status

 
Weeks 9 and 10
 

Client prioritizes candidates and begins preliminary offer discussions with leading candidate

Maintain contact with remaining candidates in the event that leading candidate drops out

Complete detailed reference checks

Assist with compensation negotiations as required

Review counter offer responses

Final offer and acceptance. Start date agreed.
